Roof Cleaning Can Remove Potentially Harmful Residue.

Have you noticed the black or dark streaks on your roof? You need to remove the ugly black streaks, which are an infection of organic materials with an algaecide. A bacteria called Gloeocapsa magma is the culprit creating these black streaks that are eating the surface of your roof and causing your energy bills to increase because your roof is no longer reflecting the sun but absorbing it. These bacteria also grow on wood, concrete, siding, aluminum, and other surfaces. As well there are other culprits like nitrogen-fixing blue-green algae that can grow in areas with little or no nutrients and can create their own nutrients through the nodules on their filament root systems that embed themselves on the surface of your roof.

If the bacteria, algae, and mildew are not removed, not only will they feed off the shingles on your roof, but if left untreated, they will also cause some stains that would require a more caustic treatment if they can be removed at all or deteriorate your roof to the point it would need to be replaced much earlier than it should. Blasting this away with high-pressure washing or an inappropriate mixture of chemicals can cause more damage than benefit. Our treatments last four to six times longer than pressure washing and use one-third of the water.
